Performance

Comprehensively Tested for Safety + Performance

We rigorously evaluate safety and efficacy through internal testing and independent laboratories, including clinical specialists and dermatologists.

Our formulas are validated for long-term stability without compromising efficacy, with additional testing for sensitive skin and dermatologist review on select products.

Third Party Clinical Studies

Third Party Clinical Studies

Most scientifically robust type of study we conduct through an accredited third-party clinical research site. Selected specific population of subjects (e.g. sensitive skin), done under controlled conditions.

These clinical studies typically include multiple types of measurements or assessment including instrumental measurements, clinical expert grading, or subject self-assessment.

Instrumental Measurements
Instrumental Measurements
This type of measurement is considered the most objective and unbiased. We utilize validated and well-established tools to capture objective, quantifiable data on skin conditions. This allows us to measure improvements in skin concerns with precision. Examples include measurements of skin barrier function, skin hydration, elasticity, firmness, wrinkles, brightness, and shine. These types of objective instrument-based measurements allow claims such as “31% increase in hydration."
Clinical Expert Grading
Clinical Expert Grading
Board-certified dermatologists or trained evaluators visually assess the skin over time to determine visible changes. They typically use a scale to rate their assessments. Evaluations are conducted at the start of the study, at various timepoints throughout, and at the end. For example, a dermatologist may observe a reduction in wrinkle severity or the appearance in redness over time with consistent product use. Clinical expert grading may provide such claims as “50% reduction in the appearance of redness."
Subject Self-Assessment
Subject Self-Assessment
Equally important to instrumental measurements and clinical expert grading is how the user experiences the product. Even if expert grading and instruments confirm visible change, the product must also meet the user's expectations. Subjects in our studies complete a questionnaire at the start, during and at the end of the study about their experience with the product and the condition of their skin that they can feel and see. An example of a claim from subject self-assessment can be “98% agreed that skin felt more hydrated."
